Why Trinity Academy is the Best School in Lake Country

At Trinity Academy, we aim to foster both exceptional academic skills and a strong foundation in Catholic values. You can see our commitment to nurturing accomplished students in our approach to education, which is quite distinctive within the Lake Country area.

Our school offers a methodical curriculum as well as spiritual formation. We believe our students’ results speak for themselves.

A Rigorous Curriculum

At the heart of Trinity Academy's success is our unwavering dedication to shaping confident readers and writers. In grades K3-2, we dedicate a significant portion of classroom time to reading and writing, setting the stage for lifelong learning. Our phonics-based approach to reading is based on extensive research and has proven highly effective with our students.

In the earliest grades, our students learn phonics — consonants, vowels, letter blends, and syllables. We combine lessons on sound phonics, syllable mastery, and spelling with a focus on comprehension. This approach to literacy ensures our students not only read fluently but also understand what they read.

While many schools today only ask students to read excerpts of books, Trinity Academy immerses students in full works of classic literature that stand the test of time.

From Aesop's Fables to The Chronicles of Narnia, our students explore a rich tapestry of literature, fostering a profound love for reading. Our parallel commitment to a solid foundation in writing helps students become articulate communicators who can express ideas with confidence.

Spiritual Formation

At Trinity Academy, we believe in the vital importance of spiritual growth and a close relationship with God. As an independent Catholic school, we embed spiritual formation into the fabric of our students’ daily lives.

Our school encourages students to embrace the rich heritage of the Catholic faith. We teach traditional prayers such as the Sign of the Cross, Hail Mary, Our Father, Glory Be, and the St. Michael Prayer in the early grades. Our All-School Masses, Eucharistic Adoration, and Stations of the Cross devotions create a sacred space for students to deepen their connection with God.

Prayer is a large part of the Trinity Academy experience. Students pray together in classrooms, before classes, and at the end of the day. The Annual Eucharistic Procession, after-school prayer clubs, and other devotional opportunities let students choose to participate actively and show leadership.

Exceptional Results in the Lake Country Area

Trinity Academy students consistently achieve outstanding results, not just for the Lake Country area but also at the state and national levels. In the 2022 Iowa Test of Basic Skills, our students scored in the 99th percentile nationally in reading, grammar, spelling, math concepts, and math computation. While national achievement scores declined, Trinity Academy students surpassed their peers with distinction.

We take pride in nurturing confident, independent readers who not only excel academically but also find joy and value in the experience of reading. As an independent school, we are able to use proven methods to teach foundational academic skills and set the stage for success.

At Trinity Academy, we prepare students to develop into confident adults. You can also read more about our beliefs and approach to education on our blog
